Kicking of on the new release for Iaito, radare2 was already updated a few weeks ago, now Iaito and r1ghidra have been updated also, all up to version 6.0.8.

Scribus updated to 1.6.5, did a local build for 1.7.2-dev which went fine with boost1.90.0, poppler25.12 and Qt6.11.0-beta1, performance is slow though, so not going to release that one just now.

In the screenshot Scribus 1.7.2

WhatSie, a Whatsapp desktop client, has hit the repos:

(Thanks to Begasus for help testing and for the screenshot)

It has some quirks/bugs left (ie. square profile icons) and since it’s basically a small QT5 browser always running it’s pretty CPU intensive.

Still, I can’t help but appreciate how well integrated QT Apps tend to be even when the app developer coded it for a totally different platform.

In other news an old acquaintance is back:

Exult recently got updated to 1.12.1 so I took a look at updating the recipe.

Having the new version compile was unsurprisingly easy, back in the day it had BeOS binaries and the code explicitly supports Haiku since ages ago.

I took the chance to enable Exult Studio (an Ultima VII game data editor) as well and made a separate package for it and for Exult’s command-line tools, which aren’t needed if you just want to play the game.

Small note: they both use the same icon. Would be neat to have a custom Haiku icon for each of them someday (an ankh, obviously )

Looking forward to trying this. Where I live, WhatsApp practically IS the internet

So far from testing here I saw a video that our daughter send me, played sound, can send text messages, no camera found here (not looking for that myself), and didn’t test audio messages, although it gave me the opportunity to do so. Pretty good all in all there, thanks again @MichaelPeppers !

Same here.

Honestly I’m not sure the App is any better than running WhatsApp Web on Firefox or Falkon.

In case the window whitescreens (it does still happen sometimes) press F5 or restart the app.

Personally I’d rather have something based on libpurple up and running, which has plugins for most protocols: https://pidgin.im/plugins

But Chat-O-Matic is dormant (and a bit broken / incomplete) and iirc Pidgin itself needs more work to… work.

fastfetch updated to 2.57.1, thanks for upstream poking to update this (and hwdata to 0.403).

As mentioned in “Playground”, now that 32bit buildmaster has been fixed, VLC 3.0.23 is now released.

Took two tries to reach my account, but once it did, it works perfectly.

Interestingly, it is registered with Whatsapp as a linked device called “Google Chome (Linux)”. Not a big deal, but months down the line, the user might delete that inadvertently.
