I got tired of searching forums and repositories every time I needed an icon for a Haiku app, so I decided to gather everything I could find in one place. Here is the result: hvif-store.art
Features:
Around 1200+ icons collected so far.
Search by tags, authors, names, mime, naming spec.
Download as HVIF, SVG (for designers), and IOM (Icon-O-Matic source, if available).
Ready-to-use code snippets (C++ array / RDEF) for developers.
Licenses are listed for all icons. Where the author or license was unclear, I tried to contact creators for permission (or marked them as orphan/unknown if no info was found).
There is an upload form: if you have your own icons to share, feel free to submit them. Submissions are moderated to keep the quality high.
I made this mostly for myself to make life easier, but I hope it helps others too. Let me know if you find any bugs or have suggestions.
The page looks really good
I didn’t know there are more than 1000 Haiku icons, that’s amazing.
The Haiku icons also look nice when used on the website, much better than those boring black FontAwesome icons everyone else uses.
The captcha when submitting new images is great,I love such little playful details
What’s not so great is that you decided to let a big tech third-party track every visit by including Google Fonts
The page looks perfectly fine with it blocked by uBlock Origin,so it can be simply removed, alternatively self-hosting with google webfonts helper is an option.
This isn’t all I have; I’ll be uploading it soon. There are a lot of icons I designed, as well as a collection of BeOS-style icons from @zuMi (which he created a long time ago for Tracker.NewFS, I think).
Yes, making Linux themes can somehow promote BeOS/Haiku aesthetics. Making themes for other software is also considerable.
Our merchandise can also be extended to patterns created by our icons without emphasis on Haiku brand: average consumers may not be interested in Haiku (or any other OS) but we can try to make them found the stylish icons attractive.
i was going to recommend game-icons.net as a possible source of inspiration, but it seems like they could be taking some inspiration from your site instead.
Where can I propose for new merchandises series? For now we can have 4 series of icons suitable for merchandises at least, food, emojis, sports and animals.
