All this is very interesting, but maybe it would be better to make a separate topic? ![]()
Iβd rather split the topic of new merchandise. Itβs way more practical
On the issue of acknowlegement, I have been adding the following sort of line to my .PackageInfo and Readme.md
MIT-Licensed Icon by 3dEyes via https://hvif-store.art/
MIT-Licensed Icon by zuMi via https://hvif-store.art/
would that be acceptable or should we give the precise path to the icon?
And what is it for? It seems to me that the MIT license does not require anything like that. Moreover, the full path to the icon does not make sense because it will change with any corrections or re-uploading of the icon on the site.
The MIT license actually demands a copy of the license text to accompany the software. If I use an MIT-licensed icon in a piece of software that is under a different license, yeah, it should be included.
The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.
Now we donβt actually do that, we have one copy in the /boot/system/data/licenses that can be looked up. Weβve gotten away with that so far. This is just a notice to go look it up if you want.
Beyond that, I am not expecting cease-and-desist notices from you or @zuMi or any other icon creator.
But IMHO we should look beyond the letter of the law here, and acknowledge the work of the icon creator, and the work you put in creating the icon repository. We are Haiku, we do little courtesies like that.
Right.
