Hardware List: Complete Systems

New people have definitely come to us through beta 4. I would ask you to enter your hardware data in the appropriate lists so that we can expand the hardware database.

Would be nice to not ask for stuff we know for beta4 that it isn’t supported like bluetooth or webcams.

Those lists should only be there once we can expect people to report positively, otherwise we are asking people to waste their time testing stuff we already know doesn’t work.

yes, I agree with you that hardware that is not supported by haiku at the moment could not be queried. But now it is the case that people learn exactly from such forum entries that it is not possible. That’s why it’s ok for me with BluTooth, there are webcams that are supported, even if they are very old, and if you’re testing your system with Haiku, you can also include this.

If I should ONLY enter the results for three of my PCs during the last two years, there would be a long list of more than duplicate entries = each tested with hrev xyz…
A Zotac ZBOX IQ01, which worked wonderfully with Haiku 32bit + 64bit for at least three years, I disconnected from the net at some point. It is now lying around in a corner somewhere.
The other three PCs (Laptop DELL XPS 15 L502X, Zotac ZBOX MAGNUS ER51060) liked Haiku from totally to not at all - always change).
The gaming laptop from MSI* in native resolution amazingly with a certain nightly hrev until the last icon: rocket - after that was the end.
With Haiku r1/beta4 (32bit, 64 bit) all three computers did not want at all. I left the older (several years very compatible) ZBOX in place.
In the meantime (over several Hrev) the Haiku USB stick was not even shown as boot medium, so I suspected the stick itself or the connection to the computer as responsible.
This was not so, however, because a certain nightly wanted then again!
How should this be handled

I make sure that the same computer/hardware components are not always in the list, but if it was running under an old version and suddenly it isn’t anymore, it will be entered (once) and if it wasn’t running then but now, it will it also entered to show progress/regression.

So that I can find it again: Haiku running on Protonet Maya - Off-Topic - Haiku Community (haiku-os.org)

System Type: 64bit
Running from: direct hardware
Model: “HP 15 Notebook PC” (SKU: J2V78UAR#ABA)
Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Rating: 9.5 / 10 (see minor audio and battery info issues below).
Startup the system from: USB
Boot options needed?: Only tried in Legacy / CSM / BIOS mode (UEFI and SecureBoot disabled).
Processor/Cores: AMD E1-2100 APU, 2 cores @ 1 GHz.
Memory: ADATA, DD3-1600, 4 GB (has 2 slots, one remains free).
Graphic cards/count: AMD Radeon HD8210 (Kabini) - iGPU/APU (vendor/device ID: 0x1002 / 0x9834).
Vesa needed?: No (uses the radeon driver/accelerant).
Graphic card status: Seems to work pretty well for the integrated HD 15.5" display. Brightness control WORKS!!!
Sound cards:

  • 1 FCH Azalia Controller (vendor/device ID: 0x1022/0x780d)
  • 2 Kabini HDMI/DP Audio (vendor/device ID: 0x1022/0x9840).

Soundcard status:

  • 1 Works, but has some issues setting up the mixer outputs/levels/mutes the first time. Headphones works (turns speakers off/on on connect/disconnect). Only the left internal speaker seems to get output.
  • 2 Untested.

Networking cards: RTL810xE PCI Express Fast Ethernet Controller (vendor/device ID: 0x10ec / 0x9136).

USB cards status: USB Pendrives and PS/2-to-USB adaptors work OK.
SD cards: RTS5229 PCI Express Card Reader (vendor/device ID: 0x10ec / 0x5529). Not tested.
SD cards status: Not tested.
Integrated Webcams: “HP Webcam” (Suyin Corp.) installed, but not supported.
Did you have to blacklist hardware?: None
Additional notes::

  • Internal PS/2 Touchpad works nicely.
  • PowerStatus reports battery status and % of charge correctly, but mWh values seem to be 10x higher than it should (edit: values are OK. I’ve mixed up mAh with mWh), and Keeping PowerStatus’ “Extended battery info” window open pegs one of the cores to 100% on an acpi_task kernel thread.

Edit: even my amd_temp driver works! Noice!

Rating: It runs very well, most things work flawlessly. I just had to change the WiFi card to a supported model I had laying around (The original card was a RTL8723AE I believe).
Startup the system from: mSATA SSD
Boot options needed?: Nothing different from what I use for Linux. I believe it’s disable secure boot and enable UEFI. But BIOS mode probably works too.
Processor/Cores: Intel Core i7 4700MQ (4 cores/8 threads)
Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
Graphic cards/count: Intel HD Graphics 4600 (iGPU) / Nvidia Geforce GTX 765M (dGPU)
Vesa needed?: no
Graphic card status: The iGPU works fine without configuration needed. The dGPU is recognized but doesn’t seems to be used (?). I disabled the dGPU in the BIOS anyway as it is also not very well supported on Linux (nouveau driver).
Sound cards: Built in (I don’t have the details right now)
Soundcard status: Speaker sound works nicely, I haven’t tested the jack output.
Networking cards: Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2200
Network card status: Not tested but available in the network settings so I guess it works.
Wireless Networking cards: Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 (Not the original card)
Wireless Network card status: Works fine.
USB types/cound: 2xUSB 3.0 & 1xUSB 2.0
USB cards status: Works fine.
SD cards: Built in.
SD cards status: Not tested.
Integrated Webcams: Built in. It doesn’t seems to work.
Did you have to blacklist hardware?: no
Additional notes: The touchpad is detected as a PS/2 mouse, two fingers scrolling is not working for example so it’s not ideal but it works. It’s not the best touchpad anyway.

I have a dual boot Manjaro/Haiku using grub, I just added a grub entry to boot Haiku and it works well.
