Hi there!
I’m assessing the use of Haiku for remote accessing a Windows 10 PC and the other way around.
I found Remmina in Haikudpot. However it crashes when I try to connect to the IP address of the Windows box. In terminal it says it can’t load the certificate. Something related to TLS.
Does Haiku offer some native support to RDP or VNC so I can skip ported software?
Now about accessing Haiku from Windows 10. Maybe VNC is the only way to acomplish this.
I even installed VNC server from Haikudepot but couldnt connect to Haiku using just its IP address. Am I missing something?
It would be great if someone wrote a guide demonstrating what Haiku can do in this area.
My use case is to use Haiku a thin PC to control a Windows 10 VM over a local network.
Your best bet is still vnc, Haiku has a native mechanism called remote app_server but this doesn’t allow you to see a screen as such, only allowing you to view single apps that are then not visible on the host (like a far away monitor) And only works with other Haiku machines.
I understand. In this case, what are the steps to get vnc working? Is it just installing vnc server from the depot and using a client on windows to connect? I think I"m missing something here
Just to clear this up: remote app_server is like it’s own independent session. You can also launch Tracker and Deskbar there. Furthermore, you can export the interface via websockets and then access Haiku remotely from a browser - from other operating systems, too.
