If Haiku was a car... which car?

Just had a thought. People talk of using Haiku as a daily driver. So.. if Haiku were a car, what car would it be?

For me, that car would be the Citroen GS, with the amazing hydro-pneumatic suspension, world beating aerodynamic design, and the plasticky but appealing French modern interior design. The most futuristic mass produced car ever, imho!

Which favourite car of yours does Haiku remind you of?

“One of them (Be, Inc.) is selling fully operational Batmobiles (the BeOS). They are more beautiful and stylish even than the Euro-sedans, better designed, more technologically advanced, and at least as reliable as anything else on the market…”

It’s difficult to name one car that fits with all aspects of Haiku.
Thinking of Haikus elegance and perfection at every detail,I’d say it’s a early-2000s or 1990s Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class from 2003
But thinking about Haikus size, the fact it’s very lightweight and doesn’t always need the most powerful hardware,I’d say it’s probably more a Smart than a Mercedes-Benz.
And thinking about the fact that Haiku works offline perfectly fine and doesn’t spy on you,it mustn’t be any car built recently, anything before 2010 is probably fine.

Surely it would be a Morgan?

Very small shop producing a very small number of cars each year, with every car (and many parts) hand-made.

TOO retro. FreeDOS would be a Morgan. But you’re on the right track.

We’re looking for something with a slightly retro look and feel, but modern underpinnings. I give you the Ora Ballet Cat.

The Puma Gatto, a dune buggy sold as a kit (notice the similarity to a haiku?) in Italy in the 1970s, inspired by the Dune Buggy, with relatively modest power (but an insane power-to-weight ratio), yet offering plenty of fun and inspiring a lot of affection (plus, it’s very iconic, having appeared in many films, especially featuring the Italian duo Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, well known in Europe)

Oh yes, that’s really a great fit for Haiku
I’ve never seen such a car and never heard about this company before, that’s maybe what they have in common with Haiku for the big masses.
The cars are absolutely beautiful and I like that they are still hand-made.
Prices are high…but…maybe some day?

Lamborghini Miura at the moment, because it’s snappy, beautiful, and different - yet old and timeless. At R1 it will be evolved to Lamborghini Countach.

I resisted the temptation to just name my favorite car, as I suspect others did. So Miura for now, probably the first supercar, even though the Countach is usually mentioned as the reason the term “supercar” was invented.

I had the estate version of that Merc, and it was dreadful.

I have almost exactly the one in the photo and I’m really happy with it.
It’s 22 years old now and it’s still absolutely reliable, never had any bigger issues with it (I’ve owned it for 3 years).

Reliant Regal Van - just like Del Boy….

Small, & does the job.

You’re not fooling me; that a Volkswagen Beetle.

Aston Martin’s Mark II - a refined vehicle of sorts…

Retro but modern and based on something more than a bit French, a Renault 5 e-tech

I do happen to have one of those though, so judgement isn’t unbiased!

Well, if you go for a French car, Alpine A110 2017. She looks like her ancester A110 Berlinette and has same temper.

it made me cryin’ joyful tears !

There’s also the VW Bus themed 660cc k-car. I give you the Daihatsu Move Canbus!

Targeting women like the Ora Ballet Cat or the Daihatsu Move Canbus might be a good strategy, Haiku being so full of that cute retro style!

The great thing about cars from the sixties and seventies is that owners could tinker around with them. It wasn’t all on board computers with proprietary software etc.
Haiku definitely has that Spirit of DIY in it’s DNA!
