Ahoy Shivam @shivamsingh !
Welcome to Haikuland !..
We really appreciated you had started to contribute to the codebase ( as it is in your proposal ) and offered your GSoC 2026 project goals to improve the Haiku Bluetooth Stack.
I just want to inform you
there are several other (4) applicants already in case Bluetooth Stack Improvements.
The 1st person - Sayeed Ahmed Shaik - is also reported as already contributed to the codebase, but since then : no news about him in the forum thread and the patch still open or other status.
He may not apply finally…
However
the next two of them – 2nd Vignesh Sawant, 3rd Mohammed Rattia – also have applied patches in Haiku and meanwhile
agreed on how to sharing the areas they would improve in BT stack,
Your goals are may collide with one of them (possibly Mohammed if I understood well), so you may agree on your goal with them if you want to improve Haiku BT Stack, and modify your proposal.
Also consider the 4th one - Delphi - who offered low energy - BLE - BT support improvement if you select another BT Stack area to work on.
You can find these applicants and proposals in the forum with search for ‘2026 Bluetooth Stack’.
Soon someone from the development team may also welcome you and guide you to find a way to solve the collision with other offerings.
Hey KitsunePrefecture,
I have worked for weeks looking and the source tree and making PRs, there’s no point in switching now since I have already put significant time and effort into the patches. Moreover, its not even possible to draft another proposal with a different project idea.
Well, I just informed you as it seemed you have not knowing other applicants on the selected same improvement area.
I’m just a member of the community - I am not in decisioning position. I hope you understand I just wanted to give you a summary about BT Stack improvement offerings.
Also do not know what possible or not in the application process. You are going to settle this with Haiku devs.
More posts in the forum still not answered recently - possibly due to many upcoming applicants or changing offerings and their available free time shortage to review them. Possible to communicate by other channels meanwhile - I can follow up forum mostly - as this is public.
The applications close on tuesday. There is no time until then to make a new proposal.
We had more promising applications this year than usual, we will review them next week and decide who we accept (also depending on how many students Google decides to fund for us)
Thanks for understanding.
