I’m not sure if there is a native SFTP client for Haiku. I’ve been wanting to implement SFTP for FTPPositive for a long time , but sadly never got around to actually do it.
There is another way that I have used some years ago, not useful for all use case but maybe for yours: you can mount a remote sftp directory an then access it in Tracker (or any other app) like a local directory. Unfortunately there’s no GUI for doing this and it’s not very straightforward on the commandline. It remember it took me a whole afternoon with some support from our IRC channel to get it working. I never wrote a real guide for it either but the info should be somewhere on the forum and in the IRC logs, if they are still around.

yes, i saw a post an hour ago of you typing a long command to do it. you said tracker would only support one connection too, but i think for that you didnt mean wifi. anyway first ill try mc before typing it, thanks anyway

sFTP Text Editor - #8 by BlueSky found it, will try if mc doesnt work

mc gives an error ‘unable to change into directory ’

my-address is the server and username

a guide that im following for reference SFTP in mc

Yep, that’s it. I just tried it, still works like that. You just have to remember that userlandfs_server can only run one instance. So if you have the SMB client enabled or anything else that uses userlandfs you have to disable that first.

would you mind helping me on that? whenever i try to mount it it returns ‘mount : Bad port ID’. can you explain how to type the sftp address and disable smb? please?

maybe i should have mentioned it earlier but im connecting to another host that is not my pc. its a website hosting service

i fixed the error and it worked perfectly! reminder, check terminal 1. thank you so much!
