Forum Software Web View Broken

Has anyone else noticed that this forum’s mobile view behaves VERY BADLY on mobile devices? I cannot go below the visible area (the space above the keyboard) because the UI refuses to scroll (to let me see what I’m typing or tap on things to edit).

Using Safari on an iPhone SE3 with iOS 18.3.1. There isn’t even a POST BUTTON within view!!!

After some faffing:

I ended up requesting the desktop version (Safari lets you do that), just to get the “Create Topic” button. Scrolling works correctly in this mode too. It’s bizarre that the forum software defaults to a very broken mobile view when the desktop version works better.

I often use the forum on my phone using IronFox on Android and never noticed the issues you describe.
The “New Topic” button is right there at the home page on the right side.
Scrolling also works without any issues here.
Maybe the issue is specific to Safari or even to your phone?
Let’s see what other (iPhone) users say

Works well on both Firefox, Chrome and Edge for Android. Indeed looks like a Safari (webkit mobile?) problem.

No other Safari on iPhone users have reported thus far. :-/

Posting from Safari on iOS 18.3.2 and I don’t see any issues. I’m including some screenshots to show how the forum renders on my device.

Thread views aren’t what I have a problem with. Try making a post where you enter enough text into the post’s edit box that the text box needs to scroll so you can keep seeing your text. Try to scroll once you’ve typed below the keyboard.

For me, it took the above paragraph entered into this box twice (with a blank line between them).

I hav problems on iOS. Post button/reply button doesn’t show up. Can’t scroll down to it. I have to keep zooming out to get it to show up. Posting photos and creating links has issues too. Hyperlinks I have to just type blindly, then hit done one the keyboard, they try to get to the input box. When I hit the input box to bring up keyboard, the box disappears and I am again typing blindly.

Most of the issues are solvable but it’s not a good experience.

Ahhh, my apologies. It wasn’t clear to me on the original post that the issue was related to the text box while writing a post or reply.

I have recorded a small video of me writing a long post with multiple paragraphs, and I don’t have any issues scrolling through the text box content: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/wb4zxzvfoxq56mmfctmk7/ScreenRecording_03-19-2025-10-51-47_1.MP4?rlkey=xkeq2pi8up4vcxcd5v688oi4m&st=wcoonoak&dl=0

Thanks for the video. I think the difference is that you’re on a taller screen and the forum is configured for that screen size somehow. I am on an iPhone SE3, with a TouchID home button at the bottom below the screen. On your screen, you have a bottom bar of buttons visible above the keyboard. I don’t. The text box is cut off by the keyboard.

You might try playing with the zoom level or requestin the desktop site… I don’t have this specific issue with a slightly bigger screen, but in general this forum software tries to be very “smart”. Scrolling by holding spacebar breaks sometimes for example…

I have to use the desktop mode, yes. If I try to zoom, it just takes me to the screen of open tabs. Unfortunately the website defaults to mobile view every time I come here.

Hmm, that might be it. I think I have an iPhone with touch id around here somewhere. I’ll check later if it still works and test out the forum.

I did not mean pinch zoom but the percentage zoom.

FWIW I do not use desktop mode at all, and on a iphone SE2 i tried this worked fine aswell in mobile mode

What is percentage zoom?

In the site settings where you can ask it for desktop mode it sais “100%” these are also controls to change the render scale.

Thanks. Using that doesn’t stop the forced centering or allow me to see the controls.
