First one already gets my vote!
@zuMi I really love how your first desktop looks like!
Not an illustrator myself, but what about something Be-inspired? The boot screen purple comes to mind and would likely compliment the yellow accentsā¦

Just wondering, when will the wallpapers be incorporated into Haiku? Will the wallpapers be merged into Beta3 (or 4) or are we waiting until R1 to introduce them?
There is a ticket currently scheduled for the beta3 milestone: https://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/16271
but it seems no one is working on it at the moment.
donāt the wallpapers come in a package anyway? then you can provide it without a milestone
This ticket is referring to a wallpaper package already on HaikuDepot but not included with Haiku by default containing wallpapers from the free image website Unsplash.
To the best of my knowledge, I donāt think the wallpapers submitted by the community have been packaged and published on HaikuDepot yet (similar to what is going on with the system sounds).
Is it hard to package these wallpapers and publish them to HaikuDepot? Maybe I could learn the process and help out?
It is not similar, it is quite the same hereā¦
The community introduced sound and wallpaper contest and files before the sound system worked. For the wallpaper it is work for the marketing team to package and spread them. Why waste the developer time with it, as long as they have other things they work on?
The packaging will happen at haikudepot. On the Haiku side I think it doesnāt really matter whatās in the wallpaper package, we just need to include it when we build the release image.
The ticket talks about Unsplash because it was created before the contest happened.
You can see this file at haikuports (packaging the unsplash wallpapers) is not very complex (I think) and could be adapted for the new wallpapers: haikuports/haiku-data/wallpaper_unsplash/wallpaper_unsplash-0.1.recipe at f85fb2d8ddbc31ce149a3395a48ff1cca61c05c9 Ā· haikuports/haikuports Ā· GitHub
It gets the files from here: GitHub - haiku/wallpaper and no one has put the wallpapers there so far. I also donāt know why we have this separate repo, maybe we could use the artwork one instead?
There is a recipe with most of the submissions from this call in HaikuPorts:
The package wallpaper_community with the submitted wallpapers is now on HaikuDepot:
https://depot.haiku-os.org/#!/pkg/wallpaper_community/haikuports/haikuports_x86_64/0/1/-/-/1/any?bcguid=bc18-MDWP
The images and the source/project files used to create them are available in the Haiku Artwork repo:
Advice for future wallpaper submissions:
Please make sure that your source/project files can be opened properly by a program available for Haiku.
Alright, thanks @win8linux to package it all and finish it up.
Iāll close this thread. New submissions can be put into a new thread.
Donāt forget, if you submit anything you need to provide a license or nobody can distribute it in any form.
