Guyz! Plase! Very want to use Haiku as the base system, even deleted Windies Xp from my laptop, but I have wi-fi bcm4322 and ther is no drivers! But without it I can not use even Google docs and write my thesis. Please, could someone write it? Sure, I am not the only user with this device.
You realize that writing a driver is not a trivial thing, right? Like months and months of work. If I were you’d I’d go get a supported wifi card or else reinstall Windows, since it doesn’t sound like you can afford to wait for someone to have time to code a driver.
In the future, you can avoid unpleasant surprises like this by first checking the Haiku hardware compatibility database at http://www.haikuware.com/hardware-database/ – look before you leap, as it were.
Thanks
Haiku does not have WiFi support yet. Well, you could install early, very limited WiFi support without any security. WiFi is being worked on by one person and may take 1+ years before it is ready and added to Haiku.
You have to stick with wired internet for Haiku. If you require WiFi, use Windows or Linux instead.
I kinda doubt it’ll take Colin a year to have something usable, but we’ll see…
Skfyr, if you want to keep uptodate on the wifi development, check out the project page at OSDrawer. There’s also Colin’s presentation from BeGeistert021 (sadly flashed, but also kinda neat).

as far as that goes some atheros cards work now with unencrypted access
In the BeGeistert video, Colin said a year for WiFi. He would have WiFi fairly complete by that time so most users could benefit from it.
Colin’s presentation also confirms this with 6, 12 & 36 month time frames. ( for example, in 6 months it’ll be usable, 12 months to complete most of it - ready for general use and 36 months to move towards more native approach with additional features).
