When will we start browsing normally?

Maybe flattening some UI elements such as eliminating gradients and replacing bevels with shadows could evolve Haiku’s aesthetic to be more in line with current interface trends, without straying too much from the Be style.

If you install haiku_extras package you can switch to BeOS R5 control look in Appearance. That one doesn’t have gradients.

The only problem with gradients is that they don’t adapt to colour schemes.
i.e when you invert contrast everywhere having light text on dark background things can seem odd. And it’s worse if you make a mix of light on dark and dark on light depending of elements.
You shouldn’t have to use another ControlLook just because you tweaked some colours.
I would be glad if someone could improve it but it’s far to be a priority.
As we say in French, there are other cats to whip and we can already do awesome things with what we have.
