What happened to KOffice and Scribus?

KOffice is here: http://tiltos.com/drupal/node/17

Anyway LibreOffice is the way to go, IMHO…

When building under Haiku the GTK+ package should not be needed, if you are trying to use the native GUI?

There is another fork of Abiword here: https://github.com/haikuarchives/abiword with some compilation fixes. Probably Paradoxons work should be merged there? (pull requests welcome!)

There are build instructions for BeOS here:

As you can see the configure script is currently not used. You only need to run “make”. he buildsystem should detect that it is an Haiku system and find everything automatically.

Both paradoxons fork and the fork PM linked successfuly build if you just run make but in both cases make install fails with an error like:

make[2]: Leaving directory `/boot/home/src/AbiWord/abi/src/wp’

  • abidistfiles not found
’make canonical’, ‘make install’, and ‘make distribution’ require
the abidistfiles/ package be available as a peer to the abi/ tree.

make[1]: *** [canonical] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/boot/home/src/AbiWord/abi/src’
make: *** [install] Error 2

However, it seems you can get away with not doing a complete install and just run the binary. Paradoxon’s fork does let you open .doc files but it is flawed in that you cannot scroll through the document if it is a multi-page doc but thats better than the other forks that just crash as soon as you try to load a .doc.

TFO seems to be the only usable option now, I just hope we are able to get it to print. I suspect the jdk port isn’t aware of or compatible with Haiku’s print server.

forart.it:

It seems TiltOS hasn’t been updated in 5 years. I highly doubt its going to work under recent Haiku builds as it predates the package management etc by some time. Even if it did work, Calligra greatly improved Office import and I don’t think Koffice supported ODF 5 years ago so I don’t think its even worth trying.

Thanks for the link anyway!

it’s calligra now, koffice is dead and is not the same suite. has anyone here tried installing anything from kde5 now that qt5 is ported?

Hi,
Does anyone know where Scribus could be downloaded?

Thank you.

Though I’m new to this community, I must say IMO the person(s) who operated HaikuWare and took it offline to conduct a survey are not doing anyone any favors. What odd behavior.
