Upgrading haiku

Hello all.

I have Alpha 3 installed in a VM. Which is the best way to upgrade it to the latest nightly?

Will this affect the optional applications I have installed, or the ones that came with the alpha, like WebPositive?

Thanks.

You might find some more, immediate, information by reading through that one. Good luck!

I use the “trick” in that thread of deleting the old /boot/system directory and replacing it with the one from the nightly.

…but Alpha 3 is pretty old. I’m not sure it’ll work, since other settings and things in /boot/common may have changed. :frowning:

If you can, I’d recommend backup up the applications and files you use to another (BFS) drive and doing a clean install.

That said, I’m not very experienced with these sort of things so there may be an easier way. :stuck_out_tongue:

You will need to also copy new version of /boot/common
