Tracker stops working after some time

I’ve been having an issue with Tracker for a while. After using the system a bunch Tracker stops displaying folder contents correctly, not displaying some or all of their content, refuses to go back a folder or opening new paths in general and the “Open with…” context menu (and probably some other) becomes empty.
Killing Tracker in Team Monitor fixes all that and the restarted Tracker works fine until it starts acting as described again.

So… has a bug like this been reported already? Any advice on debugging this?

Edit: I’ll just post this in the bug tracker as nobody else seems to have experienced this issue so far.

Confirmed. Tracer has become simply impossible to use lately. After the latest changes in Tracer it became a complex problem: spontaneously stop working hotkeys, sometimes pressing one hotkey causes someone else’s event (for example, Delete in file renaming mode switches the view from the list to large icons), hangs when navigating between catalogs when the Navigator mode is on. Frequent hangs when using dynamic filtering - as it was said above - Tracer simply stops updating the window content. The problem is so hard to formalize that I can’t even think how to describe it as a bug-tracker ticket.

I only use nightlies occasionally, but IIRC, most new tracker Tracker issues started after the “shortcut refactor” got merged (ends of January).

I reported a couple of bugs that got fixed after that, but using Tracker in navigator mode, list view, the amount of weirdness gets indeed hard to describe. I just stay most of the time in beta5, and when on nightlies, try to interact as little as possible with Tracker.

I believed that was the only one with this issue…
I confirm the weird behavior on 32 bit nightly too.

There are some tickets related to Tracker crashes, that could be related to this, based in the creation date:

Yes, most of the recent problems seem to stem from @jscipione’s changes. Hopefully he will investigate these and fix them soon(ish)…

I’ve been seeing frequent Tracker crashes on Beta 5 64-bit installed on raw silicon, and icons partially rendered after a windows was moved over them. This has been in the last month or so. So I don’t think this is just a nightly issue. checkfs-ing the 2 disk volumes on that system doesn’t reveal any problems.

The issue has not shown up in my 64-bit VMs.
