I’ve been using R5 for about a year without a problem on Asus Eee 901. I wanted to try nightly recently and switched to 59242 on Christmas. Everything was fine but today I did pkgman update and after reboot my touchpad stopped working.
Now I’m back at R5 just to be sure and it works again.
So there must have been some regression between 59242 and current version.
What do you mean by “R5”? It’s probably not BeOS R5?..

Consider filing a bug at Trac with the non-working and working syslog. Otherwise chances are it won’t be fixed for beta6.
We just merged a set of changes that should improve support for Elantech touchpads, that may explain it.
The syslog will hopefully allow to know more and investigate.
