StarSector on Haiku possible?

I haven’t really used BeOS or Haiku since the early 2000’s when i ran BeGroovy with Deej and Nutcase, but Beta 5 brought me back in at least partly while i figure out what kind of hardware i will purchase for it.

I haven’t really done much technical on the software side since, so i consider myself a newbie again while i take the time to figure out the new things, so forgive any questions that might seem newbie’ish.

I was thinking that perhaps Starsector might be a game that could be ported to Haiku perhaps as it runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, but i really have little knowledge about Haiku’s ability on graphics and such.

The game seems to need LWJGL - Lightweight Java Game Library as a wrapper:
https://www.lwjgl.org/

But of course i do not know how Java is implemented in Haiku these days.

Has anyone tried? The game is super-fun and has very light system requirements. (Anything Core basically and 4GB of memory, integrated Intel is OK).

@H-kon i remember you! BeGroovy was such fun times. Do you still hear from Deej?

Sorry, no idea about your actual question.

Nope, i haven’t heard from either of them for years. I told Deej that if he wanted to kill the domain, tell me first, but he disappeared.

Nice to see you again @memsom

lwjgl and java is available.

GPU drivers for opengl however are not.

So iit might be portable but will probably need run all to great.

That is good news though, so it should be a low hanging fruit at a later date.
