[SOLVED] Thinkpad T460s does not boot

Hi all,

I did set Legacy Bios Boot on a Thinkpad T460s.
I installed Haiku on it (I made only one Be fs partition on the hard drive).

The installation went well, but the machine does not boot now.

It’s saying it doesn’t find a medium to boot from.

Do I need to perform some specific task to make Haiku bootable?

I am not interested in dual booting with other OSes.

Ideas?

Cheers
Carlo

Did you create a MBR/Intel partition table?
The other one,GUID partition table,is only supported by some legacy BIOSes,but not all of them.
Formatting the whole drive as BFS rather than creating a partition table with one large partition is also something you can technically do,but doesn’t boot,so that could be another possible mistake.
Did you mark the partition as “Active”?
Did you install the bootloader?
That can be done by “write boot sector” in one of the drop down menus in the Installer.

That was indeed it.

So what I did, for reference:

  • Boot the laptop with the Haiku live image
  • The previously installed disk was automounted (by tracker?)
  • Go to the disk preferences and disable automonting (force unmounting the disk didn’t work)
  • Reboot again the live
  • Now the disk was not mounted, and I was able to prepare it correctly (with a MBR partition table)
  • Install again
  • Reboot
  • Profit

Sorry, first time trying Haiku since a was a teenager.

Cheers!
