[solved] Lenovo g50-70, support for haiku

Wrote this down for myself (and to not have to search the link ok lookup the information), maybe you can make use of it.

If you don´t need the wifi for the update/upgrade, try with skipping ( answer ‘s’ ) the error message shown in your earlier post.

But maybe it would be easier to just create an usb disk with a newer Beta3 or 4 image, or burn a cd, as you said, and instrall from that.

Updating old beta releases using the updater is not supported, because appropriate versions of haikuports packages are not available. Jumping versions is also not supported.

You can try downloading the beta3 dvd release, mount it using mountvolume, and use pkgman:

pkgman install /Haiku-beta3/system/packages/*.hpkg

If that works, after a reboot you should be able to update to beta4

This is the first thing that came to my mind…felt lazy…thought that I could update from R1/Beta 2

Anyway, downloaded R1/beta4 anyboot.iso…installed…ok
Changed over to nightly…ok
I see 2.iso files on my desktop, which was right after I re-booted after installation

  1. R1/Beta4…anyboot.iso
  2. R1/Beta4 anyboot-0.iso
Is it safe to delete these two files?

I ask this because, when I start webpositive, this zip files streches a bit (image) then webpositive starts…
Pl. confirm if it is safe todelete these two files

This was useful to change over to nightly…thanks

Nightly definitely is more ‘bleeding-edge’, so before doing any major updates feel free to check here or the devlog to see whats may have changed in the case of a regression. Otherwise, it’s the best way to get all the shiny new bells & whistles on Haiku. There’s been so much work done in the last couple years and lots of progress made with a lot more on the horizon! :^)

Please, somebody confirm if the two .iso files (zip) can be deleted safely

An installed system doesn’t have any dependency on the iso files located on your desktop. You can safely delete them.
