Laptop is updated continuously…Desktop stuck at hrev59580…
Both terminal and software update say “operation not allowed”
Reason? Network connection is ok
Also, browser is not opening any pages…network connected USB tethered to rndis…
I read that actualizations that span a lot of versions can fail due to ABI (?) changes so you have to reinstall I guess.
That is if you try to update from a 2+ years old system or so. hrev59580 is not that long ago.
- Make sure your internet connection is really OK
- Go to Time preferences and sync the clock to NTP in case your system has a wrong date. This causes secure connections to fail because certificate valdity dates cannot be checked.
This would not be the ABI but some incomaptibilites in either bootloader → system or package formats. In both cases it’s possible to upgrade without a reinstall, but this does require some know-how
