Software port suggestions

No luck on getting kclockd to build (missing header for that), so not much use in creating a package for this one at least.

Thank you for trying and I appreciate your time and effort

Which of kclockd’s features are vital to you? it offers quite a lot

  • Alarms
  • Stopwatch
  • World Clocks
  • Timers

It might be possible to find some of those features in separate programs.

I’m used to using MacOS’s built-in ‘Clock’ app mostly for Timers, but occasionally for the other features. …

See if this works for you

If you don’t mind CLI, these might serve

I’ve got a line on some world clock apps that compile, but I’d like to test them a bit first.

I successfully ported fldiff (https://web.archive.org/web/20130406143757/http://www.easysw.com/~mike/fldiff/index.html) to Haiku after some minor changes. It is a file comparison tool based on FLTK supporting comparison between directories or files.

Nice!! I don’t remember using other FLTK application in Haiku, but the buttons and scroll bars look nicely integrated in the Haiku UI. Good work!! :slightly_smiling_face:

Very nice indeed! I use visual diff tools all the time. And yeah, FLTK looks surprisingly well-integrated in Haiku. Noticed that with my own apps too.

With the new golang port how hard can be to port https://syncthing.net/ it is very useful to share folders

I don’t even remember any other FLTK apps exist in Haikudepot other than Dillo browser. I believe some of them can be ported easily to provide lightweight and compact applications, but the problem is most of them were built in 2000s from FLTK1.0.x to 1.3.x.

I’ve got a few: Michel's Haiku apps - FLTK

Also, BaCON comes with a little FLTK-based IDE

I was curious and tried to build it. It runs into an error right away, seemingly complaining about the go version.

go: errors parsing go.mod:
/boot/home/Temp/compile/syncthing/go.mod:3: invalid go version ‘1.24.0’: must match format 1.23
/boot/home/Temp/compile/syncthing/go.mod:116: unknown block type: tool

Since I know next to nothing about go (and don’t really have any interest in it) this is as far as I will get.
