sip, xmpp, videoconf on haiku?

ello,

i was trying to see how to communicate in telephony over IP, or video over IP, using SIP or XMPP protocols

but i see there is no SIP client, nor xmpp one to support voice or video over IP

not using a web browser, how would it be possible?

on my own, i use linphone (sip) or dino (xmpp) on win/nux

thanks !

Webcam support on Haiku is in its infancy.

The question is not about webcams, it’s about internet telephony

I was referring to the video portion of the post. Is audio recording supported?

Interestingly since I switched

from Dell Precision M6700 to Precision M6800

I have working audio input devices of Intel HD Audio

(64bit nightly )

( and maybe R1B5 too but that was just loaded at least a half a year ago )

so I could record sound and voice via Soundrecorder using built-in front mics.

Template : sound_clip__192_khz__PCM_WAV_358MB_file(ufile.io)

sorry for vent noise, it’s moderate, but seems should grease it

And of course I tried out Audacity too, but as that is alpha version on Haiku,

it is sometimes not so reliable as it was on Win7 for me.

I had not found exported file actually

I had run noise reduction on it, and it had not enabled to export again - so finally I had quit.

Dino works if you compile protobuf-c amd Dino itself manually. I can send over the Haikuports recipe if you want. I’m still holding back from releasing it, as the minimize button does not show up, and the Haiku’s own window decoration is somehow not being used. Thanks GTK…

I’ll see if Linphone works. I don’t use SIP daily, so I can’t test it much.

And, just like somebody else said - cameras are not supported on Haiku at moment. Only voice portion will work.

why not, i would really like to experience SIP/XMPP audio communication on haiku

thank you

Update, calling someone and the target accepting it crashes the app, and responding to an incoming call just gets stuck. Feel free to keep an eye out in #haiku at irc.oftc.net, but since I lack the ability to debug an app (outside of messing with the recipe), I probably won’t respond for a while.
