Before creating a ticket (with very few information…), does anyone else having their ScreenSaver revert to the default ‘Blackness’ sooner or later?
I normally set the module “IFS”, but after a few reboots at most, it’s back to ‘Blackness’. Recently switched to the “Message” module and it looked promising for several days, but now it’s gone, too…
Nothing in syslog, i think. The settings file’s modified date was, erm, modified and the “message” command reveals the setting modulename = string("", 1 bytes). Which translates to the default, the Blackness module.
I haven’t had this issue on neither the nightlies or stable release. I haven’t been changin my screen saver however and have been the same one I made months ago.
I have screensaver in 15 min and screen off in 20 min. Used to work just fine (I haven’t changed my screensaver for ages). Will watch out to see of something changed.
UPDATE:
Yes, it works OK. I have the Icons…
I did change the time to 5 and 10 min respectively in order to check. Don’t know if that affected anything.
I don’t understan fully what the problem is but, I try to present my own problem.
I use hrev58136 64-bit on HP T510.
It has two video ports, DVI-I and DVI-D.
DVI-I use adapter for analog VGA cabel. DVI-D use adapter to digital HDMI. In analog cable everything works OK with VESA driver. In digital HDMI DPMS doesn’t work and 1280x1024 gives me black screen. Tested in two different LCD monitors.
BTW. VESA standard allows only 60 hz refresh? Am I right?
I have set Spider saver for months and it didn’t reset. While checking the only weird things I noticed were:
Translations to Nebula can make the view too large for default window size. Not a big deal, user can resize the window.
When it is called for first time, Shelf saver throw the savers applet to the background. This can be puzzling for beginners as they won’t even see the sentence to tell them what they are expected to do. If you bring back the applet to front, it doesn’t happen again.
