Progress on running Haiku on VisionFive 2

ICU 75 seems to be the current version in Debian 12. I looked to see if I could even get 66, and I’m still searching. Ubuntu might have it in their archives.

Anyhow, I’m going to re-attempt booting a recent build, as I don’t have anything currently working.

Default one in Haiku for the 32bit and 64bit is still 74.1, tried with 75.1 but ran into dependency issues where other packages needs to be rev-bumped with build against 75.1, so not touching that one for now, I guess switching the one for riscv64 shouldn’t be too hard (to ICU74.1).

So whats the best way to update the base build?

I now have a booting minimal system on the VisionFive2 board, but its based on build 57xxx, very old - however it works. There is nothing on it, and I would love to have a nightly build running but I’m puzzled at how best to copy the files to the partition since I only get an .image file.

MAYBE I can write the image to an SD card, and then copy those root files over to the nvme directly, overwriting the current files?

Thoughts? I can’t burn the image directly, because then it doesn’t boot.
