Haiku has strict rules on branding/rebranding distros like that - main reason there’s not really been anything like that done for quite some time by anyone.

The rules are not that strict. If you ship an unchanged build of Haiku with extra software you should be fine. If in doubt, just ask Haiku inc, or be prepared to build Haiku without the official logo and name (you can insert yours instead)

A small follow up on this one. R1/Beta4 is out and this is all settled now. (we chose to not compress)

For the folks mentioning xz, 7z, gz, etc for compression… I hear you and 100% agree. Zip is a horrible choice and better stream options exist. However, we also have to target the most people. A lot of folks don’t understand what a .xz is, but completely understand what a .zip is.
