I’m Alexander von Gluck IV, one of the board members for Haiku, Inc. While redesigning http://haiku-inc.org, I noticed we have several donation platforms which aren’t used very often. I want to make sure our current donation processors align to what the community wants to use.
What are your current (or potential) favorite donation platforms for donating to Haiku, Inc.?
Librepay seems pretty popular. @pulkomandy already has it set up for us it seems like. https://liberapay.com/Haiku I’d encourage any active contributors to Haiku to sign up.
At the moment, donations to librepay bypass Haiku, Inc. and go directly to the developers who sign up, thus donations are not subject to the tax-exempt status of Haiku, Inc. (aka, don’t try to deduct what you donate through librepay on your taxes )
We’re also blacklisting any active Haiku, Inc. board members (myself included) from getting donations through Librepay. (it raises all kinds of weird questions about the Haiku, Inc. not-for-profit I don’t want to deal with.)
@korli Seems to be the only one that selected Liberapay exclusively however… I wonder what his reasoning is behind that or if he just didn’t select other options he would also use, just his preference.
