Pkgman freezes the whole OS

Hi,

first of all, thanks for Haiku and especially the fresh R1Beta5 release: congratulations to all the developers.

I’m experiencing an issue (it was there in Beta4 too) with pkgman, and consequently with HaikuDepot: when I install some packages, the system freezes: the mouse actually moves but I can’t do much more, and I’m forced to poweroff the machine.
How can I help debugging this issue, the next time it happens?

I’m using a VirtualBox VM under Linux, with 10GB disk space and 2GB RAM; the KVM acceleration is enabled, I don’t know if Haiku uses it.

Are you using the PRO/1000 network device, or some other one? I think this is known to happen with the PCnet devices.

VirtualBox reports “PCnet-FAST III (NAT)”.

Just changed it to “Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (NAT)”.
