I have Renoise on my AMD64 Linux box and I’m beginning to wish I knew about realtime filters and more about synthesis than I learned on my Commodore 64. Coaxing chip-tunes out of a synthesizer like a SID chip is way easier than all the filters and modulation out of a beast of a digital audio workstation like Renoise.
We do have Sync Modular on Haiku, though - since it’s closed source BeOS software - just on 32bit Haiku…
I’ve been involved in creating a fablab, less than 200m from home, we opened last month.
semi conductor fab ?
No, a makerspace.
Well, I still have the old moped around, but haven’t been able to ride it in months because:
(a) It developed a bad rod knock (meaning engine bearings were failing)
(b) A replacement crankshaft and connecting rod would need to be ordered from Europe
(c) Said part(s) would cost more than 200 euros before tax and shipping, which, even if I could pay, I couldn’t justify because I originally bought the entire bike for US$350
So, it still “runs”, but it’s currently dead unless and until I find the money to buy the necessary parts. But I guess I should expect high parts prices, because Kreidlers are very rare in the United States, and in fact, the information I’ve found suggests that most of the surviving examples are in Europe.
For now, at least I have a cheap Chinesium 100cc scooter to get around with.
Trying to make 3d Printer, if it works out, I’ll print houses for cats, and BeOS, BeBox various interfaces :), and another corpuses, if i get RISC-V and can start and continue any interest project…
I was talking about getting a 3d printer and my wife asked, “well, what would you even print?”
…to which I replied, “the question is, what WOULDN’T I print!”
I am involved in a non-profit focusing on the history and genealogy of the village/region I am from.
- Big subject right now for the non-profit members is collecting archives and interviewing the 80+yo before they disappear with their knowledge.
- Specifically for me (on top of research): training members (some with little to no computing skills) on using the open-source softwares used to run the main site (Wordpress), the genealogy site (Webtrees) and the media center (Piwigo).
I also dedicate a bit of time to a low level rugby union and touch rugby club, helping with administrative tasks.
gy6 ?? if so, Alibaba go you
One of my non-Haiku hobbies is studying martial arts. I’m currently learning movements and techniques from a Style with roots in Japanese samurai arts. My teacher thought it would be good for us to experience what it’s like to wear armor so today class was conducted in full period-accurate yoroi. This is me all geared up for battle today:
It weighs about 40lb/18kg so it was a different feeling but also a lot of fun!
Impressive!
Though, with that ‘full-body mask’, it could be any cosplaying loon you met in the park…
I’ll get me coat…
You don’t think I could be the cosplaying loon people meet at the park?
I was happily driving my 80’s car on the highway when suddenly, it went kablam! and lost power. Barely made it to the next exit and a condo parking lot, with the tell-tale noises of something FUBAR’d in the engine block.
So what I’m doing now, is a) praying to whatever God’s listening, while b) preparing to dig in the engine bay and see from 1-10 what level of disaster it is
I’m a mechanic. If I can help with any questions, let me know @victroniko .
That happened to me once with a 2000s car, and it was a timing belt that broke. Pretty much shut the car down instantly and I had to coast to the side of the road. It was annoying because I had just been to the mechanic who told me I had about 6 months before the belt would wear out…
best of luck! cars are…fun
I’m in a knock down fist fight with Linux CNC and my lathe.
if everything goes to plan, be looking to hire full time dev late next yr
