Not sure if this is the right forum, but oh well

there’s stuff for playing multimedia on beos, but (afaik) there’s no apps for making music (like no multitrack recorders / audio sequencers) - is this true? or are there people working on such programmes?
i would really like to use beos/haiku to make music on… but i’m stuck with windows, because the programme i use (psycle) only runs on windows (well, eventually it will run on linux too) i could get them to port it to beos/haiku - but that still leaves the issue of the vst/vsti’s - is bewine (or something like it) still in the works?

Maybe this can help?

eh eh … that’s in fact a big problem … where is the Multimedia OS here ? No audio tools like Absynth or Cool Edit, and simply no app of video editing (not even a clone of MovieMaker …)

thanks for the responses…
i’ve done a bit of searching on bebits, and theres things that look promising like qua (or is it q? - well, its one of those), the problem is they’re no longer in development :frowning:
ive acutally talked to a couple of the coders who are working on psycle, and they’re doing a version which will be easier to port… i asked them if they’d consider doing a beos port, and they said yes… but that still leaves vst’s … i heard a rumor that the beunited people are working on bewine… so i’m hoping thats true
windows can be really frustrating to use - beos makes me like my computer  - and i really like the responsiveness… i only wish i had the skills to code, i’d contribute myself…

Err…

Non of these is good for you?

Be sure you check out specially the VST MediaAddOn.

Hope that’s what you were looking for.

Regards

yeah, those things do look interesting, but there are a number of synths and fx that i use… http://winbe.twintail.org/ - this looks interesting, anyone know much about it?

I believe you should not hold your breath waiting for WinBE.

Instead see if your needs can be fulfilled by XRS/MidiSynth/Q/All_the_VST/VSTi_plugins_out_there.

Good Luck.

well, unless there are heaps more vst/vsti's for beos than are on bebits, it's not really worth it... maybe i'll just have to stick with windows or linux untill the bewine / winbe projects are usable... - but as soon as they are, i'm installing straight away :)
