New Haiku Installtion

Hi, I have just installed Haiku succesfully on my IBM T41 - very easy and fast (5 minutes). Very impressed.

Was that install from memory card or usb drive to hard drive? I believe with CD it takes longer like 20 to 25 minutes to install to hard drive.

You were right, the install from CD to hard drive took me almost 5 minutes too. Very fast. It may have been Alpha 1 that took about 20 minutes to install.

LiveCD mode is very quick too. I would say about 2 to 3 minutes to load but I never timed it to make sure. I can say that Ubuntu LiveCD was way slower to load for me. The 15 minutes to load everything for LiveCD in Haiku is way too slow - something not right for you? I would guess something is hanging (driver?) and slowing down the boot to LiveCD for you on Haiku.

EDIT:
I forgot you had network conflict with wireless card. Very good reason for your slow boot in LiveCD mode.

The 15 minutes LCD was more an estimate, I went and had a cup of coffee and lite snack. I figured (after an OpneSolaris attempt of hours - instead of minutes) that it would take a while. When I came back it was there.

Had a little play around (in between sniffles of cold) last evening - removed some programs that I wouldn’t use (so got practice at that). Have client stuff to do today.

Will get there eventually
