My old archive for perusal

I have just emptied out my old BeOS box from back in the day which has been mostly untouched since 2001. A Pentium III 866/512MB/120GB IDE disk. I think i downloaded most of this back in 2001.

I have put the contents here:

It works with Netpositive version 3 as long as you right click and save as - and the ancient “bon echo” firefox that i had on there, the regular Netpositive browser does not seem to work.
I am going to go through some old disks and stuff as well so there might be more software, hope some of it is useful for anyone and you might want to archive it somewhere else as this host might go down in September of 2026.
It is unsorted for the most part, so might take some time to look through it. Hope you find it useful and that some of this stuff is “new” again.

Thanks for sharing. I was especially excited to see the Genki CD archive as I’ve been on the lookout for this for a long time.

Is this the only copy you have of it or do you have the actual CD? The zip contents result in a non-bootable system (“boot device not found” error). If you have the disc a bin/cue (or similar) dump would be fantastic to see.

Although it’s not bootable, it still let me finally run the original “Benoit’s Mix” release of 3dsound which was nice.

Genki was R4.5 i believe? I do not remember anymore. I got the original CD i bought back then. I will see if i can get one of the optical drives i have to make something out of it. I have a few burned discs as well with stuff on it.

Thanks for getting back to me. Genki was the beta of 4.5. All the final BeOS versions have been imaged to the best of my knowledge. But the beta discs haven’t.

This is what the Genki disc looked like:

I was hoping you might have the CD but maybe you only have that zip file, probably downloaded from somewhere back in the day.

I had this CD back in the day, but no longer, so yes, it might be an old download from back then, so sorry that i cannot help you with this CD. I will be going through the rest of the stuff in the near period, 5 discs or so and just upload them if i find something useful inside them.

No worries. Maybe it will surface at some point.

Thanks again for sharing what you have.

This is great! I still have an R5 box running BeShare. I’ll add this to the collection. Thanks for sharing!

What is your server? Might try to fire it up and let it stay online for harvesting

I connect to AGMS’s server, I think its

Genki was the code name for R4.5, Maui was R5 and Dano was post R5.03. I don’t believe Genki doesn’t include R4.5 GM.

A lot of the releases had code names.

I joined the server and sharing from there now. If someone wants me to join their Beshare, let me know. I am not up to date on where people are these days, so include the addy as well.
