Music notation programs & Photoshop for BeOS?

Are there any good music notation apps for BeOS other than abc ?. I’m talking about powerful & easy to use apps on par with Igor, Sibelius, etc…

I happened to see Photoshop 6 for BeOS screenshot (forgot where i found it). Does Adobe have it for sale ?. Does it run on Haiku/Zeta versions ?.

Thanks in advance.

There aren’t any that approach the ease-of-use that Finale has, which is what I use under Windows. Quite a while ago there was a program called Mozart which was headed in that direction, but it was in very early development and was abandoned shortly thereafter. :frowning: There are sequencing apps out there (like Sequitur, IIRC) which also offer notation in addition to the piano roll style method, but they seem to me more like an afterthought.

Photoshop for BeOS doesn’t exist. Chances are that what you saw was either Pixel32 or a fake. Pixel32 looks quite a bit like Photoshop, so that’s probably what it was that you saw. Somewhat OT.

Funnily enough, one of the better “notation” programs I’ve used is Guitar Pro, under Windows. Mostly I like it for the speed of input. If you’ever written tablature, that’s what it is. Version 4 (IIRC) has a notation display, but you still use tab to enter it. Numpad and arrow keys. Speedy!

Maybe I didn’t use it enough, but Finale was way too much mousing for me.

Hmmm, I don’t know, but here is the screenshot of Photoshop 6 for BeOS. 8) http://haikunews.org/gallery/befaqs/photoshop

Yes, but if you can use Photoshop then you know that not all what you see is real

It’s from a screenshot contest arranged by BeFAQs.com, you where supposed to create a screenshot showing BeOS R6.

All fakes

I wonder if Lilypond will compile in BeOS. It’s a command-line music notation language (something like Latex), and it produces the best music notation I’ve ever seen.

It does, it is powerful, but it is not user(musician) friendly, no realtime screen display like other apps do (apps on Win & Mac), no midi input/playback, etc… :x :x

Its like TeX… best works with a good GUI frontend

Hrm. I wonder how difficult it would be to write a functioning frontend for lilypond… I’ve been sitting here learning the syntax! haha
