Every so often you’d like to select several menu items and get slightly annoyed that the menu keeps closing with every click. Think of showing a bunch of email attributes (From, Subject, When, Status) in Tracker for example.
How about the possibility to do it all in one go: left clicking an item shows the current behaviour, right clicking sends the BMessage of the menu item but keeps the menu open. So you’ll see any changes live, not only after the menu is closed.
In the case you mentioned, shouldn’t that menu really be a window with checkboxes? I always cringe when I hear of “unnecessary” functionality being added to the lean and mean OS.
this is a great idea!
Also in the tracker menu (right click on folder) it would be very useful when you found your folder you can still search for other files. Thats a thing I often miss!
Also a simply but very usefull feature would be the copying with the middle mouse known from the x11 server…

In a way the entries in the menu I mentioned are checkboxes: you un/select an entry and a checkmark dis/appears. But even if it weren’t, choosing a few entries in one go comes in handy all the time. Plus, as it’s “hidden” under the right mouse button, there’s no additional cruft in our lean, mean operating systeam…
BTW, I wouldn’t like having a window pop up with checkboxes for Tracker columns. windows tend to become lost or modal…
