I think if we had a lemmy instance or official federated forum, that would be cool then again I also think discourse sort of does the job that and there’s a lot of toxic people on some federated communities so it might not be a good idea
What would be the benefit of that?
Discourse does the job really well here and there’s https://beos.retro-os.live if you want to try a unofficial community site.
Also, there are lots of open Lemmy instances where you can create a unofficial Haiku community if you like to.
I generally like the idea of decentralized/federated communication, but I also used Mastodon in the past and can confirm that there are lots of toxic people, better not directly connect the Haiku community to that.
I could do that, but I need to find a good reliable instance I’m going to try to find one and if I do, I will share the link to it here I should ask for permission to do that first though
I was going to suggest fedia[dot]io which is a Mbin instance (which I personally prefer over Lemmy for not being so Javascript-heavy),but I’ve just seen that they now have a login wall and don’t allow you to read stuff without an account anymore - That’s a clear no go! ![]()
Maybe try https://kbin.earth if you want to give Mbin a try,or https://scribe.disroot.org if you prefer Lemmy.
I have good experience with other Disroot services, they’re really reliable and trustworthy.
I will give that a try as well
Well It’s not pretty it was kinda quick and dirty but here it is on a mbin instance
looks like someone beat me to it already, lol
The related magazines section shows that (at least) two other unoffical Haiku communities already exist:
I see well there’s another one what’s your username on there I will add you as a mod on there if you want
I could also buy a VPS and just create a forum and call it UHC, but you have to be careful with abbreviations nah too much money and work
I even made my own group logo, yeah XD I should find someone who can draw, but I think I’m just gonna roll with it and make it work somehow
Well here’s my forum I should have used something else for it but i want to be a wee bit different
I’ve never seen this forum software before, looks really interesting ![]()
I’m not sure if showing password hashes publicly and not allowing to change your password later is actually a good idea, but that sort of account system sure makes it easy to get started.
It sort of works like a trip code on an image board from my understanding, but I would reframe from using a password you would use anywhere else just encase also only the admin or moderators can change there password
I now also have an irc server as well using the same hostname I used ergo which is an all in one irc server because setting up anope is a pain it has a built-in nickserv but i dont have it enforced so its optional so people can either jump on or save there nick
