Making an icon

Thinking recently it might be time to put this program I was working on, in the application menu and not invoke it all the time from the command line.

Which means I’d call up Icon-O-Matic and make some stupid icon for it. This is a skill that I clearly have not cultivated - neither the graphic design, nor the tool. Is there a process or maybe a tutorial or something that would really put the “o-matic” in Icon-O-Matic?

Not an artist myself, but you could start here maybe?

Welcome to the Association for the VectorDesign-impaired. Your contribution will help us represent our downtrodden community at the highest level.

Until we take over power and enable the return of BeOS-style bitmap icons (not saying “by force”, but …), you can use this workaround.

  • Download a nice SVG
  • Import SVG into IoM
  • Save out as icon

Or you can promise @zuMi a box of chocolate to make you an icon …

What a beautiful tutorial, language neutral even!
Great to have!

Thanks Gerasim
