Is there any email provider that will work with the beam client or any native email app that comes with haiku because of reasons I can’t get it to work with Gmail or AOL
If you’re running 32bit Haiku, you could give MailNews a try. Of course I saw that some folks have mentioned using IceDove (Thunderbird clone).
I’m currently using ice dove I want to see if I could get beam to work with some other email service out there
Well I got the default mail daemon to work, however the name of the mail service I used is questionable, so I’m not too sure if I can share that here, but it does work with it just make sure it’s set to use esmtp with pop set both to use SSL I also had to manually set the mail directory of both outbox mail and inbox even though it says it uses those directories by default
link to questionable email service
sadly, I could not get beam to work, it would just crash on me if I tried to edit the preferences if I can’t even play with the settings I guess that would be a no-go
Well IDK why anyone but me would want to do this, but you can as of the creation date of this post not too sure about that in the near future
Speaking of which
hears the error log is too big to past here so I had to use a paste bin
Beam crashes when you try to edit the preferences due to the spam filter. If you build beam from source, and remove the spam filter, and run beam you’ll be able to edit preferences.
You should be able to use gmx mail with no issues with beam. I use another email client with gmx, which does not allow for 2 step authentication and have no issues.
If you want to use AOL for your email, claws-mail works great with AOL, just make sure you request a app password from Aol so you can use their email in claws-mail
oh i see thanks for the tip
GMX works well with the default Mail app. You’ll have to fiddle with the config until you get things right but it does work.
I’ll give that a try probably tomorrow after work and I’ll sort of use that as my public email
You can try haikumail.online - will post about it here but you can sign up at https://haikumail.online
yes mail provider with pop should work fine in beam.
I use imap in beam of my Haiku computers. Likely a configuration relating to SSL/TLS issue
I have five email accounts that I still use in different amounts of usage that I obtained last century (except the most recent). My oldest is my netscape.net account (bought by AOL.com awhile back)…my oldest would have been my Compuserve email…but that is extinct.
Then Yahoo, Gmail, a standard account, and now the newest is my fastmail.com account. I use Beam to connect and download ALL my e-mails from FastMail. The other four forward and delete the e-mails once FastMail confirm receipt.
Pop and Imap both work with Beam. I also use IceDove (i.e. Thunderbird).
