Kdenlive on Haiku

Wonder how KDenlive would do with this (although I can’t check it)

I used kdenlive a lot in my days on Linux.
If I remember correctly, the vast majority isn’t touching the 3d pipeline at all.
At least not a lot more than a simple media player.

Cinelerra, an other video editing software I used, was very GPU intensive, and it didn’t work well at all with my very limited hardware. (all I had was an integrated Intel gpu, and not the good kind, integrated to the CPU, the bad kind, inside the motherboard’s northbridge!)

Can’t share the package I have atm due to experimental Qt6 frameworks and newer KF6 frameworks, but if you can build it from source, current source should build out of the box without patching (a small one enables Haiku’s icon theme, but that can’t be up-streamed).

It’s been a long time since I compiled anything, but if I find the time to do it, that could be a fun project.

I hope, one day, kdenlive would work out of the box on haiku, that would be incredibly useful for me.
I have a lot of projects stored, made with kdenlive.

It’s impressive how I can do nearly everything on haiku nowadays, and it’s more responsive and reliable than ever!

Having GPU acceleration is just icing on the cake for me.
But it sure is awesome!

Remembered I have an (older) version at https://codeberg.org/Begasus/HaikuTestDrive/raw/branch/KF6/KF6/apps/kdenlive24-24.12.0-1-x86_64.hpkg (meant for 64bit), maybe you could give it a spin, I’m not a great artist myself to do that

I don’t know if it’s the one I already tried and crashed when trying to import a file?

I should try to compile the latest version myself to see if I can dust off some skills.
