Hi, I’m Sayeed Ahmed Shaik, a 3rd year CS undergraduate. I’m interested in contributing to Haiku’s Bluetooth stack for GSoC 2026. I’ve just submitted my first patch implementing HCI_EVENT_INQUIRY_RESULT_WITH_RSSI handling (https://review.haiku-os.org/c/haiku/+/10460). I’m running Haiku natively on a USB stick and cross-compiling on Xubuntu. Looking forward to contributing further!
Welcome, Sayeed! Hope your stay around these shores proves to be joyful!
I only recently had enough bluetooth devices to actually pair them (not much to do if only the phone supports bluetooth
), but now I have 2 computers where Haiku can see the bluetooth interface!
So it will be interesting to see whatever progress you achieve on this area!
In my case, sharing the internet from the phone via bluetooth would be something I would regularly use, if available. Mmm, also the phone can simulate HID devices, so paring it as a keyboard/mouse/touchpad/gamepad would also be cool (even if not my main use case).
In any case… just wanted to post a little “welcome” message, and wish you good luck in both your learning and the whole GSoC process!
Thank you Mate:) Bluetooth sharing and HID device support are great use cases — hopefully the work we do on the stack this GSoC will lay the groundwork for features like those. Appreciate the encouragement!
