I found it very interesting because I really had no idea about the current situation of Hardware-OS relation.
I think that many people here may be interested in general about OS research, so sharing it.
Wow…guess all OSs haven’t kept up with changes in hardware - especially the advent of System on Chips. Have to say that many OS devs seem set in their ways, and don’t like change. e.g., a mini OS will always stay constrained in size - no matter what users ask for. However, there are some devs who thrive on adopting the cutting edge. So all is not lost, we may see some newer hardware-aware OSs yet.
