The port of minetest it a bit dated is there a possibility I can somehow run a more recent version of minetest/luanti on haiku
Sure, you can build it yourself, or update the port. Just keep in mind that the newer renderer works even worse on Haiku (compared to the burningvideo one they used to have)
So don’t expect really great performance… it’s not really playable for me because of the inventory code. You will have to see how it works for you I suppose
Now that I think about it, you’re probably right. It might not be a good idea because the renderer but i’m going to see if I can get all the dependencies I need and try to compile it myself
hello,
Actually there is a draft PR for luanti: [WIP] luanti: rename and bump version by TheZeldakatze · Pull Request #11999 · haikuports/haikuports · GitHub . Problem is that for some reason the UI completely breaks, making the main menu pretty unusable. Once you are in a game, it works fine but I would like to find what’s causing this bug before opening that PR. I also had quite some stress with university and I might have forgotten about that PR.
I compiled luanti and I lowered the viewing range to 30, and now it runs as smooth as butter well saying that might be a bit of a stretch I’ll say it’s playable I had to compile it without OpenAL even after I installed the openal_devel package it still would not find it for one reason or another, but it works a lot better than I was expecting it to
Okay now it doesn’t work, it seem it can’t find the font directory
