I have the same or similar issue on a 2012 MacBook Air. Since it is an experimental laptop for me I reinstalled the latest nightly to the same issue. Looks to me like a possible USB or a device issue but I didn’t have time to probe real deep. I did notice some USB WiFi dongle code changed recently and I use one. I am on the road till the 13th and I will play again. Hopefully issue is resolved by then if not I will look deeper to see what is amiss.
I unfortunately didn’t have a chance to do a bug report, busy off day with limited play time.
I mentioned this in another post and I then went ahead and said it had been fixed. But sadly I think I am merely misunderstanding how Haiku Boots…
Thread x “main2” running on CPU x error has been occurring for me since hrev59917.
I mentioned that it was fixed but mys tatement was premature… Here’s what happens.
hrev59917 - Crashes after 3rd (add in board) icon with the error listed here in this thread. So first thing I did was a full reinstallation just to be sure it wasn’t something I was doing…
but it wouldn’t boot past 3rd icon again. So I:
- Boot in safe mode - disable ACPI in settings/kernel/drivers config file - reboot and all is ok.
- At my next nightly update I installed hrev59919
- It rebooted ok fine… So I re-enabled ACPI to see what would happen and IT BOOTED NORMALLY AGAIN! YIPPEE..
This is where I made the mistake of thinking my install was fixed and I cheered!!
When I rebooted my Haiku box the next morning, the error came back… so I:
- Boot in safe mode - disable ACPI in settings/kernel/drivers config file - reboot and all is ok.
- At next update I installed hrev59921
- It rebooted ok, so I re-enabled ACPI and again it booted fine. YIPPEEE! IT’S WORKING!
Then this morning I booted my hrev59921 and again the error reappered, forcing me to disable ACPI in the config file again.
I think I might be misunderstanding the boot process.. Doing a reboot from the haiku menu seems to trigger a different set of results than from powering down and rebooting fully.
Since it is now 100% repeatable and I know how to trigger the error, I want to file a ticket but which log files should I include? Any help appreciated.
That screenshot does indeed look more to be like an issue with the usb_disk driver.
It would definitely be worth opening a ticket at Trac (https://dev.haiku-os.org) and attaching that screenshot of the KDL. It sounds like @GraXXoR 's issue is different to @qionm549 's issue but still worth doing the same, opening a ticket and attaching the screenshot and steps to reproduce.
I signed up in Trac this afternoon but will not have access to my machine until the 13th, if problem still exists I will file a report.
waddlesplash already asked you to open a ticket, please do that instead of writing about the issue again in another topic ![]()
(but yes, there is a difference between the “reboot” operating and a shutdown with subsequent new power-on)
