How can I investigate a BeShare issue on my side ?
I got an offer from one of my co-patriot on posting screenshots forum thread -
I can download their photos which can be used as a background -
(Picture(s) taken shot recently at Lake Balaton during the partial solar eclipse ). I bluntly mentioned as that picture shared on the screenshot just looks likely as lake Balaton classic with Golden Bridge. It was confirmed back it is really the Balaton.
So I just daydreamed as if Haiku backgrounds would be shared on a BeShare server for others.
Well, son (or girl) of our country did not take this lightly, and after some days informed me --shared them on BeShare.
As I had not used until now, I had not known that installed BeShare clent comes with a default BeShare server - by default - … anyway I accepted the offer and asked back about the BeShare server.
I started the client, I was reading the messages below about what happens - the system messages, I’ve recognized the same ‘agnsmith*’ server is filled at server field.
So finally I used → Fájl/Csatlakozás (Connect or Join, whatever in English) menu point as was instructed in system messages - as no automatical mode was set - and then I searched for the .jpeg files as it was instructed by my fellow citizen, ‘walaki’
Well I had to change a bit to work as a viable query - and then quickly I got the 2 filenames.
I tried to download both altogether, one-by-one, but at status window in Hungarian got warning/error messages
How can I investigate my side - to ensure I have all set right to receive files from a BeShare server ?
-- access rights ? permissions ?
user ~ 09:06 ls -ld /boot/home/BeShare/shared/
drwxr-xr-x 1 user root 2048 márc. 23 2024 /boot/home/BeShare/shared/

-- anything else ?
Q2 :
What a partner, an uploader, can check on their side ?

This is a side thread, but I tried in vain to “drag” the chat input field out of this semi-visibility in this BeShare client version, but I couldn’t find anything that I can grip to help me make the input field visible…
Any advice? :j

NOTE: If you are behind a firewall, make sure you have checked the “I’m Firewalled” menu item in the settings menu. In this mode, other people who are not behind firewalls will be able to download from you, but other people who are also behind firewalls will not be able to see or download the files in your “shared” directory.
I checked the “I’m firewalled” option, hope it helps.
At my side I am in a flat that loaned for me for free to help me out a life situation.
The router here is not under my control I just switched On/Off until now to resolve issues.
Later I may ask for access management granted - right now I cannot manage settings in there.
But actually I cannot connect to the router on management interface – lacking the password.
Thanks for your help ;-))
It was fun to test the BeShare client in Haiku finally – after years I had installed …
EDIT :
There’s nothing in syslog, but some driver loaded to play MIDI file, I checked the file’s health by playing it shortly before copied.
BeShare have to be restarted here - its window render had gone to fuzzy, and frozen the client itself.
Maybe the BeShare server can be involved too - finally as it stated it is a PC, so might it overloaded as in the warning message states the download status for me
Strange that midi file I shared seems its size is 0 bytes, however the file itself in the shared dir. is healthy and matches with the file in size in my collection - wildmidi played like charm, so while I typed this it played in Terminal background from there.
I would assume 644 permission on file would be enough in a 755 dir.s in dirpath to be available for size check …
Well, I rather get your files in mail or uploadit addon’s share link sooner than this BeShare stuff actually , it seems
Files finally received - out of BeShare actually … next time, with better experiences or trying out other server(s) too - if any I can find to connect …
