What does “file” command says?
Pity that you still get stupid answers to stupid questions.
Although … I still heard something from HPKR files. What’s this?
lorglas: have you tried to open with Expander?
Stupid answer? Where?
Looks like another “Failure to Communicate”…
I wasn’t aware of HPKR files, but a quick search shows they are the Repository Control Files. I found a relevant document here: https://depot.haiku-os.org/__docs/ch01.html.
Unfortunately (!) it has the sentence:
" THe .hpkr format is a binary data structure described here." – where “here” is a link to File-Not-Found!! Urkk… How convenient.
The command-line tool package_repo creates and reads the hpkr file usually called repo in the repository directory.
Type package_repo --help in a Terminal for more info.
Hello,
thank you for the answers. i want to read out the HPKR files. The link from Peter i know it and the problem with the link. that was the reason why i asked.
I found a new link
https://dev.haiku-os.org/wiki/Obsolete/MovedToTree/PackageManagement/FileFormat
The new official home for the package documentation apparently is https://git.haiku-os.org/haiku/tree/docs/develop/packages (featuring no way to view them in html except if you use github, which is not part of our official infrastructure).
Some people in the Haiku team still think that breaking links is totally ok, despite telling them that it is a bad idea. sigh.
