How to gather debug information for unstable WiFi

Hi,

unfortunately my usb-wifi dongle (some tp-link device with a RTL8192CU chipset) doesn’t establish a stable connection to the internet/router under Haiku. This makes Haiku rather useless for me at the moment.

But I would be happy to piece together some debug information, but I’m not sure, if the syslog would help for example.

Kind regards

Hi andi4567,

That is unfortunate and a bit odd because it appears that the wifi chipset you have is listed as supported:

https://hardware.besly.de/index.php?hardware=External_Wireless_Adapter

I haven’t gone through the process myself yet but maybe the following will help in collecting debug info:

https://www.haiku-os.org/docs/welcome/en/bugreports.html

Cheers

Bill

Thanks for the answer. Filing a bug report seems, indeed, the right thing to do. Btw., I’ve got another wifi dongle with a Ralink-chipset, that Haiku recognizes too, but does not even connect to the router.

With two wlan devices at hand that work in principle, I won’t buy another one just for Haiku.

Edit: Ticket created: #19110 (RTL8192CU based TP-Link WiFi Dongle slow/unstable connection.) – Haiku
