How to add custom screen resolutions

i need to have 720p or lower resolutions as i cant see well. i have tried resolutions like 800x480 but they were too small, and i tried increasing the text size on 1920x1080 but that didnt solve the prblem. so is there any way to add custom screen resolutions? i have a 16:9 monitor

Increasing the font size is the recommended way of scaling the UI.
Can you explain how it didn’t solve the problem?
Did it not work correctly?
I recommend rebooting after changing the font size,so that the new setting takes effect in all parts of the UI.
If it still doesn’t work correctly then, that’s a bug.

If custom screen resolutions can be used depends on the used graphics driver.
If you use VESA (failsafe graphics),you may have luck with BIOS patching, but that doesn’t work on all hardware, and if it doesn’t,it may crash the system or give you a black screen.
To try it,add or uncomment bios_patching true to the file home/config/settings/kernel/drivers/vesa
Then reboot and you should see a very long list of available resolutions in Screen preferences, but some of them may not work, you’ll have to try.

increasing font size works but bios patching didnt. so ye thank you it looks fine now

just out of curiousity, how do you change the graphics driver? i didnt know haiku had support for it

Haiku has built-in drivers for Intel, older AMD and older Nvidia cards which are automatically used if Haiku detects that one of them is compatible with your hardware, otherwise it falls back to VESA.
Those drivers support a wide range of hardware, but not all GPU models ever released.
If one of them used but you prefer VESA,you can force that by enabling “Use failsafe graphics driver” in the bootloader menu.
Note that those drivers don’t support acceleration,so it doesn’t make a huge difference for most people, but they can enable additional resolutions that VESA doesn’t have, and on laptops they can allow you to control screen brightness.
