Haiku on Microsoft Surface Pro 4

Hi all,

I just tried Haiku Beta5 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
Wifi does not work.

Do I have any option to try and make it work?
Or should I just give up for now?

Cheers!

What are PCI vendor/device IDs?

https://cgit.haiku-os.org/haiku/tree/3rdparty/korli/haiku-current.list

  • supported devices

device id is 0x2b38
device vendor is 0x11ab

Looks like mine is not supported.
Bummer.

Thanks.

Something obscure that is not supported in *BSD (Haiku networking drivers are mostly ported from *BSD): Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88W8897 [AVASTAR] 802.11ac Wireless

Got a spare USB port? Some USB wifi dongles are supported now.

Ah, I got one lying around.

Unfortunately, no luck NetGear WNA1100 Wireless-N 150 [Atheros AR9271]

I will try to find a compatible dongle on the 2nd hand market.

Thanks,
cheers!

OpenBSD

The device is supported by OpenBSD versions 4.9 and newer:

It can be ported to Haiku.

I am available to help testing the thing.

I haven’t ported any OpenBSD USB drivers yet, so this would probably need a bit of work at least.

Ok, given that dongle is huuuge and old, don’t think it worths the time.

Thank you all.
