Haiku install on laptop

Good day everyone. I am new to this forum. I like Haiku. I now have Haiku running on linux boxes. I now want to run the installation on a Dell laptop. I tried this, but it boots up. Boot on a USB stick and run. Then why not on the SSD of my laptop. Below are the specs of the laptop.

Dell Latitude 5300

8th Gen Intel Core i5-8365U Processor (6 MB cache, 4 core count/8 threads, 1.6 GHz to 4.1 GHz) (vPro)

SATA Solid State Drive Class 20
Realtek ALC3254 with Waves MaxxAudio Pro
Intel UHD Graphics 620
Qualcomm QCA61x4A 802.11ac Dual Band (2x2) Wireless Adapter + Bluetooth 4.2

First of all, welcome to the Haiku community!

My guess would be that your system is probably using UEFI firmware. The UEFI bootloader is contained in the Haiku boot image but is not installed by default. As of now, you have to do this manually as explained here: UEFI Booting Haiku | Haiku Project

Another solution would be to go into the firmware setup menu of your laptop and switch it to BIOS emulation mode, if available. Should be called something like “Legacy boot” or “BiOS boot”, but it is not available anymore on most modern systems.

thanks for your reply, i will try that.
