Hi all.
Sorry for silly question, but is the user account for Haiku Depot Server common one for this forum? Or should I register again for the HDS?
You need a separate account for HaikuDepot.
It’s planned to have one account for all Haiku services in the future,but we’re not there yet.
I see.
Thanks!
Hi @kazu ; Implementing integration with the Haiku SSO server is definitely on the list! It’s going to take a wee while to get to. I have had a number of other things I needed to get to with it over 2025 – will blog about it soon. This work also would make sense to be done coupled with a rework of the web tech; let’s see how things go in 2026!
In the meantime, go here to make a new user and try keep the username the same as the SSO login to make things easier later.
Hi,
I’ve tried to create my account for HDS, but the “Create” button has never been activated!
I’m afraid I always give a wrong answer to the math quiz…
It seems the user name can only contain lower-case chars.
The error message doesn’t explicitely mention it,but it appears here when I insert a upper-case char and goes away when I delete it.
Thanks!
Now I have my account on HDS using my family name only (and it’s different from the nickname for this forum
)
By the way, I have one more (off-topic) question: what category of this form is suited to ask a question about Haiku packages? Software? Ports? or Development? (or somewhere in HDS?)
Specifically: my PCs at work are surrounded by a corporate firewall, and the use of proxychains-ng is essential to install/update packages, but the available package is rather old (v4.14, but now v4.17 is available on GitHub) and can’t be built using haikuporter with the present recipe (the latest version can be built on a Haiku with a minor modification!). So I’d like to update the package.
What is the proper/polite/recommended manner to create the updated version of an existing haiku package? Any pointers to written documents? (I’ve read the gentle introduction 1&2, but these are for writing recipes. I’d like to know how to update an existing recipe)
If you know how to work with Git,the preferred way to update a package is creating a pull request for the repository at GitHub - haikuports/haikuports: Software ports for the Haiku operating system.
I can’t find instructions for updating a recipe in the HaikuPorts wiki either,but there are some forum topics that may be helpful for you:
HaikuPorts, bump a package version
Small guide on how to work with .patchset files
If you want to ask questions about working with Haikuports/Haikuporter,the most suitable category is “Software/Ports”.
Thanks for the pointers, @nipos ! I’ll read these forum topics tomorrow (because I’m already drunk tonight
)
Actually, I’ve already made a PR a few days ago.
For which 32bit failed on the buildmaster, don’t know if you’ve had a change to look into that? ![]()
