Hi There,
On my Thinkpad X1 carbon gen6 I have tried the internal Bluetooth and a USB Dongle. The devices are:
0a12:0001 /dev/bus/usb/0/0 “Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd” “Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)” ver. 8891
8087:0a2b /dev/bus/usb/0/6 “Intel Corp.” “Bluetooth wireless interface” ver. 001
The CSR device used to be seen by Bluetooth Preferences on r1b6 but on daily it is not seen anymore. The Intel device has never worked.
The CSR used to see client devices like my mouse, but would not connect when asked to pair. But I can’t even do that any more.
Anyway, just thought I would report those two devices as not working..
Had you read the blogposts about GSoC 2026 Bluetooth stack improvements ?
Those are targeted the Haiku Bluetoooth services regarding operational level, and they worked on it in Virtual Machine environment.
Unfortunately this way you can see improvement and working BT devices, if you probe it in virtual machine as well, or you check the service on processing level, when you issue
ps bluetooth_server
on an actual hrevxxxxx Haiku and Haiku version before this spring, when GSoC contributors started to add patches to several improvements/fixes to the BT stack.
They had not worked BT device drivers additions, but anything else below and above this part. This way needed a virtual environment except your bare metal devices.
It’s good to know not even the Intel device has worked - I hoped to change my Broadcom stuff to replaced by an Intel one would help in this situation I have. There’s an Intel wifi/bt combo card I thought to buy for my Dell laptops to remove the Broadcom firmware based solution from the Haiku driver/firmware formula, but this way its success rate might not change.
Seems we should wait patienttly until devs focus on BT local device drivers addition to the Haiku system - possibly first into Nightly. I’ve already requested my Broadcom one in a ticket.
You may open about yours in enhancement ticket(s) in Haiku ticketing system.
