[GSOC 2025] Introduction - Krishna S

Hello everyone,
I am Krishna, a sophomore studying computer science. I have recently started exploring operating systems and absolutely love it. I want to contribute to Haiku and gain some real-world experience because I find OS development fascinating. I have some experience with C & C++ and am actively improving my skills. While I am still in the learning phase, I am eager to take on challenges and contribute in any way I can.

I would appreciate any guidance on how to get started—beginner-friendly issues, essential documentation, or any other helpful resources. Looking forward to collaborating with the community!

Hello and welcome!

The entry point for Google Summer of Code applications is GSoC contributors FAQ | Haiku Project

There are links to various useful documents starting from there.

Let us know if we can help with specific questions, and also if one of the project ideas sounds interesting to you, then we can try finding related isues and tasks to get you started.

Also just as a reminder: we don’t know yet if Haiku will be selected for Google Summer of Code this year (there is a selection process for us as well). This year they said they would be targetting projects related to AI/Machine Learning and Security in priority, because a lot of the GSoC participants want to work in these fields. So we’ll see how our traditional and boring (in Google’s opinions) operating system ideas go
